Meet the Roses. An incredibly fun, beautiful, full of life, funny, intelligent, sweet enough to give you a cavity- family. They are just some of my favorite people on the planet.

I've had the joy of photographing this little girl since she was in her mommy's womb.
Here's a series of our journey together...

What a beautiful adventure their first year was! So grateful for this family and looking forward to watching them grow for a long, long time.

all in the family , lil' kids | October 04, 2011
See this kid? Top series? Love him.
He's always been animated...here's one of our previous sessions together if you're into that sort of thing --->>> click here.  Such a stinker. His baby brother is going to be holding his own before long. I can't wait to see how that shakes out.

I so enjoy watching the nuances in family relationships and how siblings learn to adjust to one another. I strongly believe some of that comes through the images we create.

In all the years I've been working with this family, this was the first time we attempted an Urban Session. They totally rocked it. I love the playful nature in their familiy...and in their images!

This fiery red head called us with the sweetest little sweet tea voice you can imagine and told us that aviation was her family's passion. After being around her for a few hours, I got it. She is so passionate about aviation it brought me to tears ((I know, imagine that)). Anyway, when she talks about it, she lights up. There's a fire in her that burns deep for it. I flipping L O V E to be around people like that. It's exactly what makes life so fun to wake up to every morning.

In the images below, you'll see her with her daddy and her family. She and her dad run Tri City Aviation and her husband is the mechanic there (hence the shot of him with a toolbox bigger than my car). Her daughters also love aviation and once even had their birthday party out there. How fun is that! Loved getting to know this family and what makes their world go around.

There is absolutely...absolutely...positively nothing more fun to photograph than people who authentically love one another. I LOVE watching love.

The magic that happens when this family gets together is electric. Picking, poking, jabbing and belly laughing make for some incredible family pictures. So, so, so glad I was blessed by meeting them and catching a small glimpse into their lives.

You may remember this family...they're quite unforgettable.
They have personality PLUS! Plus what? Plus more personality, that's what.
I literally either laugh or have permagrin from the time they walk in to the moment we part.
Their joy, sarcasm, dry humor and depth leave me wanting more every time I see them.
Oh, and did I mention their willingness to do crazy things? They let me lay their first son
down in really tall grass, wrapped in a blanket up on Roan Mtn.. This year they let me float their new baby boy down the river in a basket. They rock.

We did a two part session Maternity/Newborn. Both by water to carry the theme. I think it's pretty obvious in the images where one story stops and the other starts. Isn't it cool how our bodies, as women, change so drastically, so rapidly? I love that.
