Once in awhile, a family comes along that I feel like I connect with on a different level. I can't really explain it, but I definitely "feel" it. It's so comfortable being around them and watching them love one another. Love is so fun to watch! :)

As their family tree grows, every time I see them, it's almost as if I can SEE their roots are getting deeper and their relationships maturing. So neat. Okay, yes I may be mushy...but THIS is what it's ALL about! I love this stuff...and I love this family. (and I hope I look half as cool as this g'ma when I'm a g'ma.)

If I could only show you one image from this session that would totally and completely scream...THIS is who she is......it's the first image in our lineup today. I had never met this little princess before the day I was able to photograph her, so I didn't really know much about her. In the short hour I was there, this image completely sums up what I saw in her little personality.

I'm so passionate about creating an image like this for every family I work with. Why? Because she won't be like this for long....she won't be this easy to "see"....but the cool thing is, when she's 20, her mom and dad can show her this image and tell her story after story of how she used to be just because she shines here so vividly.

Sometimes I wonder if what's in my heart comes across through my words in a clear, concise way. Hmmm...prolly not. But I promise not to stop trying to explain it. ;)

Enjoy a peek into this little princess's ( <---should that be  " princess's "   or just  " princess' " ? ) life.

Meet my friends...also one of the builders at Edinburgh, a new community here in town.
Because their lives have been so hugely involved the past few years in developing this community, they wanted their family to be photographed there.

If you ever want to meet someone who can make you laugh until you cry...hook up with these two. They are a hoot! Love them so much. Beautiful couples sure do make beautiful kids, don't they?

I love "at home" sessions because life changes

Kids grow up.

They don't want measuring charts and pink everywhere pretty soon. They don't want to be cuddled and hold chickens pretty soon. They would simply die if they were ever discovered being crazy in love with a stuffed animal pretty soon.

I hate when this happens....but I love it. Isn't growth bittersweet? Maybe I'm just a weirdo. ;)

Goodness, that landscape is soooo breathtaking. I am having strange thoughts of wondering if I could make my desert wasteland look as beautiful as that. I don't know if it's possible... but maybe one of these days I'll try... :)

Last year we did a vintage nursery rhymes theme. This year, we went with *the* wood boat.

Such a great, great story behind this boat. I'll try to give you the abbreviated version and do it justice :

Granddad worked for a guy who bought this boat.

Granddad saw the name on the front and realized that it was made literally next door in the neighborhood he grew up in ... several states away from here. He tells his son and daughter in law how significant it is to him...reminds him of his childhood.

Dude sold the boat.

Granddad passed away.

Several years later, Erica (daughter in law) finds the new boat owner and buys it for Travis (son of Granddad) as a gift.

Are you crying? I am. I love significance. I love this story. I love this family.
(and I'm pretty fond of these images, too!)
